Intel confirms Core brand to lose the Duo tag

Pentium Dual Core succeeds Pentium 4
Tuesday, 7 August 2007, 12:03
BRAZILIAN JOURNALIST Mario Nagano confirmed that Intel is dropping the "duo" classification.

Intel executives have briefed Brazilian hacks about the changes, which will happen in early 2008.

The Pentium Dual Core, he reckons, will be the so-called Pentium Duet, and the Celeron the Conroe L which we wrote about some little time back.

There will, he reckons, be no difference between dual or quad core versions and you'll have to peer closely at the packaging to figure out which is which.

Or rely on your friendly and competent assistants in PC megastores to tell you what the heck is going on.

The Celeron 400 will lose the letter D just in case people think the letter D means "dual core". It's a recipe for stew. There's more on Mario's blog, here. ยต
