Engineer creates hybrid search demo

Yahoo Google mashup
Tue Aug 05 2008, 09:51

VIK SINGH has created a hybrid search mashup that combines Yahoo's Boss framework (BMF) with Google's App Engine (GAE).

According to Singh, "running BMF on top of GAE is a seemingly natural progression, and quite arguably the easiest way to deploy Boss."

Singh, who just happens to be a former Google engineer, noted that he created the demo with only 50 concise lines of code.

Yahoo Boss is typically utilised by developers to create custom search applications based on the popular search engine. Boss also provides Python API's that access the Yahoo search application programming interface.

On his blog, Singh described the Google App Engine as a "sweet yet simple platform" for executing Python applications on Google's infrastructure.
