FIFA refuses to consider goal-line technologies

They think its all over-blown
Mon Jun 19 2006, 23:33
SOCCER OVERLORDS at FIFA have refused to even consider using technology or video evidence to show whether or not the ball crosses the line in goal-mouth scrambles.

The old chestnut raises it head at every major competition, usually when some striker or other feels as sick as a parrot.

A FIFA spokeman told journalists in Germany that football's governing body won't consider using any technology until it can be shown to be "one hundred per cent reliable". Like a ref's whistle.

The topic raised its woolly head after French bloke Patrick Vieira looked to have scored for his country on Sunday, only for the ref to rule his effort hadn't crossed the line.

FIFA spokesman Markus Siegler said: "We are open about reviewing technological support, but its introduction depends on a system being developed that is 100 percent reliable, otherwise we will not use it. µ
