Sony backs off from "Shock and Awe" game

Tried to trademark Rumsfeld trademark
Tue Apr 15 2003, 21:33
THE JAPANESE PRESS said that Sony has decided not to produce a Playstation 2 game called "Shock and Awe".

It filed the name with the US Trademark Office just a day after the Iraq war started.

But it now realises the error of its ways and doesn't want to commercially profit from the term, saying that it had realised it was an unsuitable move.

That hasn't stopped others from jumping on the bandwagon, as you can see from the US trademark page, here, choosing the Trademarks button and entering "Shock and Awe". µ
