Fairchild unveils Dell's Opteron system

FAIRCHILD SEMICONDUCTOR has come up with a Voltage Regulator IC for AMD's upcoming Opteron processor. The FAN5098 DC/DC Voltage Regulator IC is intended for use in providing precise, efficient power regulation for the CPU Vcore in desktop, workstation and server applications, the company says and has produced a promotional poster for the product here.

The interesting thing about the poster, as X-Bit Labs pointed out over here, is the name on the box, or, at least, the mouse and keyboard. It's a Dell! Though we can't of course tell whether this little baby does in fact have an Opteron inside. µ

UPDATE Oh dear. Fairchild seems to have downed the picture....
