ALMOST EVERYONE WANTS to see the new Nvidia Opteron workstation chipset. And a huge LAN party going on courtesy of AMDZone this Saturday in Austin, Texas might seem unrelated. But Nvidia will be there with the Nforce 3.

Lapping your GPU might sound rude but it can make for a cooler chip. OverclockersClub risks breaking a GPU.

Rambus RDRAM was the fastest memory around for quite a while. Tweaktown shows that there's life in the old dog yet. They've got an Abit SI7-G motherboard on the bench.

German readers, or Babelfish users for that matter, can read all about the Opteron as a Linux server in this article over at tecChannel.

It has been a while since Joel or SFFtech appeared in the roundup. Thankfully they've got a nice new article up. It's coverage of the new Asus Pundit, a very slinky looking bare-bones system.

AMD3D reckons it has got the scoop on the latest version of the Asus A7N8X Nforce 2 motherboard. It's 400MHz FSB ready and it gets an Editor's choice.

Switching to another Asus motherboard but this time for an Intel processor, LostCircuits has a Canterwood based P4C800. They like it lots.

It's scary what some manufacturers think is a suitable name for a product. Take the Spire 5U213C1H3G for instance. Thankfully, it's also known as the Fridge Rock. Subzerotech thinks it's a pretty good heat sink and fan combo. Last up, something for the real heavyweight graphics user. Tom's Hardware has a fresh look at the performance of the ATI FireGL X1 & Z1 workstation graphics cards. How long will it be before ATI catches Nvidia in this arena too? ยต
