Virgin Media reverts to dinosaur call rounding days

Antidiluvian practices
Thu Sep 06 2007, 13:14
CUSTOMERS of Virgin Media have received a note saying that from October the 6th, it will charge calls on a minute rather than a second basis.

This ancient practice is sure to annoy a lot of customers.

A call, for example that last four minutes, 50 seconds, will be rounded up to five minutes, Virgin said, as an example.

But of course that also means that a call that lasts four minutes one second will be rounded up to five minutes, Virgin didn't say, as an example.

One infuriated customer said: "You have to love the way that an effective price increase is classed as 'extra value'".

He said: "It's been years since BT and other companies dropped this charge per minute nonsense, but if Virgin makes it stick, how long till others follow?" µ
