SMALL AND LIGHT 1.8-inch hard drives with large capacities were introduced by Toshiba today.

One model will hold 120GB, another 60GB and a lightweight one 80GB.

Their not-so-exciting monikers are the MK1214GAH, the MK6027GAL and the MK7025GAL, respectively.

The three drives include a parallel ATA interface, and a 2MB buffer.

Toshiba also introduced two single platter 60GB 1.8-inch drives which are five millimetre low. These have the exciting names of MK6014GAL and the MK6015GAA, spinning at 4,200 revs per min and 3,600 revs per min respectively.

The drives are already shipping to PC firms and people making cameras and the like, and also are being supplied through distributors, said Tosh. µ

a little misleading

toshiba already produces a 160gb 1.8" hard drive that is used in the ipod 160gb classic. these "new" drives are "large" capacities compared to that.
