Vista and Firefox go RC2

WE'VE BEEN PLAYING with Firefox 2 in beta form for some time, and downloaded the RC2 from here yesterday.

It certainly seems very stable, and things are generally looking good for the next major release of the IE-busting browser. Hopefully the deluge of plug-ins we use will be updated quick-smart.

Heck, even Mr Magee of INQ editorial fame chose 'Fireferret' as his browser of choice sometime ago - it will be interesting to see if people rapidly adopt Firefox 2.0 as quickly as they did with the first version.

Another RC2 release also slipped out yesterday - Windows Vista's second major release candidate is now available for download here.

A word of warning before you slip this onto your current stable build of RC1. Microsoft state: "This build may not have the same level of support or servicing via Windows Update as RC1, and you may not be able to upgrade from this build to the final version of Windows Vista." Which doesn't sound too promising for what will probably be the final release candidate.

We're putting this RC2 build, numbered 5744, through its paces as we speak. ยต
