Apple runs recycling initiative

Green, offensive
Mon May 21 2007, 14:07
APPLE IS HOPPING onto the green bandwagon it was revealed, with a new program that gives schools Stateside the opportunity to recycle computers.

The promotion allows for educational bodies with 25 or more computers to put their old systems into recycling for free provided they register before the end of June. Systems don't need to be Apple-made to be recycled, says the company.

Apple says that it will collect the systems itself and go through all the security hassles itself, including removing tags, serial numbers and other distinguishing marks, as well as breaking down hard drives into "confetti-sized" pieces, reports Apple Insider.

The offer appears to only be available in the States right now, but it's not tough to get involved according to the company: you can call a number or fill out on online form. Once applied for, wrap up the machines, leave them at an agreed pick up point, and Jobs' green henchmen will come over to pick 'em up for you. µ
