Corsair adds combination-lock security to USB drive

CES 007 Flash git

CORSAIR RAN INTO a bit of a problem while preparing its latest flash product, the 16GB Flash Voyager. The largest issue with it was the fact that the 16GB will not be on the same level of performance as their 8GB offering and there was a danger of mixing fast and slow USB drives under one hood.

Two models will be going for different price, but that was expected

So, the company decided to split the product lineup into two: Flash Voyager will remain with its blue colour and it will be oriented towards high capacity, while new Flash Voyager GT will be built for speed and capacity.

No PIN, no data getting transmitted...

Besides splitting the Flash Voyager line-up, Corsair also introduced new USB drive with security features. Basically, flash drive comes with an keypad where you need to type in the six-number pin and the data on USB will become unlocked. Until you unlock the stick, device stays invisible to the computer, since no power will be activated on the USB connector. ยต
