Nforce 4 SLI begins to sell

Small numbers, but available
Wednesday, 15 December 2004, 08:24
MANY OF YOU reacted to our original Nforce 4 SLI shortage article, so I got the feeling that I should share all the infos you gathered for us. I guess I was wrong about Nforce 4 SLI unavailability as you can get some boards all around the globe. Still there are not many of these boards around.

I have to note that almost all the emails that I got where about Asus Nforce 4 SLI boards that cost from €166 in Germany to around $200 in US. At this time, Asus is the only one available. We were indeed right about this when we wrote this.

The general feeling is that October/November pre-orders were fulfilled and that some other happy customers managed to get some of the Nforce 4 SLI boards. Anyway read what people around the globe wanted to share with us.

"I work at a PC shop in Tokyo and last week (8th of December) the first ASUStek SLI boards where sold in Tokyos Akihabara district. These where sold out on the same day. On the 10th (after closing time) we got our second delivery and sold out on the 11th."

"Lots have been sold this week in France….50 SLI sold in three hours in one of the magazines in France Ciao" alt='scissors'

"Actually there is a company here in the US that has already shipped my new Asus SLI system to my house. It went out last night after a weeks worth of testing. "

"I placed the order on or about November 11th, within a day of them posting the availability on their website.

Perhaps they aren't availale via retail but the boards are out there and being included in systems."

"Sorry, not much of a flame but I have ordered and received my A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard. I saw a listing for it on XPCGEAR.com as being in stock I ordered mine paid for next day shipping and it is working fine.

"The price was high but worth it. Though you might want to know." alt='scissors'

"Fudo: Voodoo PCs have the SLI Motherboards." alt='scissors'

"You have to Seek and ye shall find. The first retail ASUS SLI boards are shipping in Germany, for those willing to seek hard enough. Check out this link:

"They seem to be in stock, and they should arrive in the Netherlands today or tomorrow. Hopefully mine will ship this week.

"There is a bigger isue here though: even if the boards ship this week, those buying an SLI board (like me) will have to make do with either a fast ATi or two 6600GT's - which are hard enough to find as it is. I can't seem to get my hands on a pair of PCIe 6800GT/U's, the estimated shipping date for those is feb 2005. "

"Dear Fuad,

"Firstly i did find a place with four Nforce 4 boards two different ASUS SLI motherboards + SLI Gigabyte board & 1 type of Nforce 4 Ultra board by MSI in stock, however they are only for AMD64 Socket 939. I have found none for Socket 754.

here.

"I am a daily visitor/ reader of the INQUIRER.

I myself have been wondering where on earth these Nforce 4 SLI boards are as i would like to build a new pc with AMD64 Socket 754 CPU & Nforce 4 SLI board by Gigabyte my preferred manufacturer."

Hey,

"There are 10! Asus A8N-SLI's in New Zealand, we bought 3 of them and have been playing with them extensively. We only have 6600GT's at this stage, but even then we can get to 15000 3dmarks when the cards are at 560/1160, and a 3500+ is running at 2600mhz. We did have an FX-55, but the guy has already picked up that system.

"No one knows when 6800GT's are going to be available in PCIe yet, but there are heaps of 6600GTs about the place."

"Hi Fuad

"Scan are taking orders on 3 out of 4 of the SLI boards that it has listed. The site states that the Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe is due on the 16/12/04. They have also built an SLI system which has been reviewed by PCPRO, AFAIK Scan are the UK launch partners for Nvidia, so if anyone is going get the boards then they surely are. "

"Maybe i was lucky but i got mine today...i bought it from Monarch on Dec 10 Lucky even more since i managed to get 2 eVGA 6800 Ultra PCIe from XtremeGear as well."

alt='scissors'

"Actually, two local stores down here in Leipzig got about 50 ASUS-SLI Deluxe boards each today. So plz, correct your information. I'll be getting my tommorow."

"Hi Fuad,

"You complain about the lack of availability of SLI boards, and I'd have agreed with you hadn't I seen this (http://www2.alternate.de/html/shop/productDetails.html?artno=GHEA03&) yesterday evening.

"According to this page Alternate, a big etailer in Germany which I trust on its availability information, now has Asus A8N SLI deluxe boards in stock and ready to ship. And if Alternate has them, I'd wage a guess that others will get their supply soon.

"So, there you go, Asus does seem to ship boards right now, just as they told the press, and if you want, you can get one in time for christmas eve.

"Just to tell you that we here in India have been a bit lucky with the availability of latest stuff. ASUS Geforce 6800 Ultra AGP was available 2 months ago, and still is. I am due to get an ASUS A8N-SLI Motherboard within 2 days(it has arrived in Bombay, will ship today to me, at Calcutta). Although I am yet to inquire about PCI version of 6800ultra."

"You are wrong. I have one of the boards and I ordered it on Dec 6. I got it Friday. I am only a Hobbiest in Lansing, MI. "

"Actually, i have an A8N-SLI sitting on my desk right now, and i know at least 5 other people who have the same. I got it for $201 USD and it arrived today. I'm pretty sure there are several places you can get it, you just can't find it for $200. Too bad i didn't expect to actually get it so soon, so i waited a while to order the rest of my stuff, so the mobo's just gonna sit on my desk for the rest of the week while the rest of my stuff ships." ยต
