Infineon releases high capacity chip sandwich

Recipe for 1MB SIMs

AS PROMISED German giant semiconductor chip firm Infineon, formerly Siemens Semi, has released another chip sandwich.

This chip sandwich is different from the 3D chip sandwich we wrote about two years ago, here.

Today's chip sandwich is a product which has the enticing name SLE88CFX1M00P and Infineon claims it can increase memory capacity by a hundred times.

How does it do this? It uses something in layman's language called the "face to face interconnection technique".

The chip card IC will offer 1MB of memory capacity, using a .13µ (micron) manufacturing process.

Chip sandwiches are lovely. Have you ever had one? You buy some regular chips from a fish and chip shop and a great big bap which you butter lavishly and scoff until you're full. It's not good for your arteries, but hey, what is? Here is a pic of Infineon's chip sandwich which while not very tasty is clever stuff. µ
