AMD profits go down the gurgler

Falling prices to blame
Fri Jan 12 2007, 07:36
BEAN COUNTERS at AMD warned that the outfit is going to make a 'substantially' lower Q4 operating profit, than they'd hoped for.

Plunging prices for its wares have hacked into the company's fourth quarter profit.

Profits for the quarter, not counting the ATI sale costs, will be 'positive but substantially lower" than the third quarter.

The outfit has managed to sell more chips, but this was offset by the falling prices.

Most of AMD's woes have been because Intel has been successfully fighting back for market share and the two chipmakers have been involved in a price war. µ
