Qimonda, Spansion align product roadmaps

Tie up somewhat interesting
Wednesday, 11 April 2007, 11:59
SPANSION SAID it has teamed up with Qimonda to offer specialised memory chips for mobile phones.

The multichip packages will combine Qimonda's low power DRAM with Spansion's Mirrorbit NOR and ORNAND devices.

The firms also said they will align their product roadmaps, with Qimonda supplying pseudo SRAM (PSRAM) for some types of Spansion flash memory.

That will bring better yields and cost effective chips, said the firms.

No financial details of this somewhat intriguing memory tie up were disclosed. ยต
