“Well, first assume a spherical hermit....” -- Cupid Stunt

Poll Roundup
What 's Your Opinion Compaq's IPF-Ins... We have no idea what Charlie Matco is talking about, but we're pretty sure Compaq is toast.

FNG Roll Call.
Mike (WHITEKNAVE) Chris (LEONOV) GAMBLE111 SCATA TCB500 PHILTRENT Most came out guns blazing, so the new recruits might make it.

Weekly Folly
The INQUIRER guide to.... batteries. SCATA had something to say about a semi informative article here on the Inquirer. SCATA decided to do a little review of..ummm..Loos. You can imagine how we dealt with that topic. Near the end URIGAGARIN turned it into innuendos better left undiscussed here. All in all I think you all were a little harsh on Phil. Then again it's weird, he kinda feels like kin.

Got this idea
Mr. Mageek decided to give the OOFG a little good-natured ribbing about our inability to stay on topic. We took it in stride, going completely off topic in 5 posts, when Cupid asked for a job. The thread turned into a little job search. Then a discussion on real estate. Off topic posting - job search - real estate values. Makes sense to me.

Sid Squid
Well it finally died out the early part of last week. It burned brightest before it died. Approx. 125 posts in one day. If cars is your thing this is the place. Technical specs, driving in Scotland, and SGF2 ‘s new caddy. Finished on exotic foods, you know emus, ostrich, doughnuts. frnht451 first posted a picture of a road (???) then made the mistake of pinpointing his location rather specifically. It's kind of far, but if the OOFG shows up on your doorstep, at 4am, after the next meeting don't be surprised.

Friday 13th?
Yet another post about the rigidly scheduled (wanna get drunk? Ok) OOFG meeting. Chosen to be on Friday the 13th this time around. Talk about pushing your luck Once again a wandering thread, and by far the most popular (157 posts in 2 days) So I feel another running commentary is called for.

1-14 managed to stay fairly on topic a little technological ribbing, but mostly roll call.
15 Thermionic makes a valiant effort at pulling the tread off topic with the Forum's favorite subject (After the OOFG) Cars.
16-36 Thread went all out geek, everyone boasting about hard drive sizes amount of memory, monitor sizes etc. What the hell do you people think this Forum is about…
37-61 Mr. G. Decides we are not quite geeky enough talking about computer hardware. Starts talking code. For those of you who don't know, or care, what “pointers” are (excepting the stick kind), you might want to pass on this bit. If you do want to see this, may I recommend someplace warm and many colorful rum drinks.
62-79 Back on the OOFG roll call. The American branch tries to pawn of our favorite moderator Hermie.
80-81 Some Nimrod seems to slip a cog about traveling. This looks like it could get bad.
82-100 Arranging the Hermits trip to the British Isles continues. Somewhere along the line spiders crop up. Nothing good can come of this.
101-? Ok at this point any semblance of order (and that has always been pretty thin in these parts) completely disappears. Both of the above mentioned prophetic signs turned into something worse than we imagined. The Nimrod ranting about the airlines completely looses it. Mr. G fights back valiantly. Our sponsor, Mike Mageek, and his cohort Dr. Spinola, fall into a flashback. We never got the full story out of their Blubbering. The only thing we are sure of is 1. There was some alcohol involved. B. Some extraordinarily large Lobsters were seen. Hmm Journalists in Las Vegas, controlled substances, and scary creatures, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas II. I think an article from our journalistic friends is owed.

Transcendental Junk Mail
In another one of our thread jumps. SDMAHANEY starts of wondering about a spam he received, advertising a spam blocker. Post 2, Hermie keeps it completely on topic. Post 3 SGF2 manages to go crude and sexist. AAAANNNDDD THEY'RE OFF!!! We never looked back. Ten rather imaginative terms for breast. URIGAGARIN usually a quite fellow got in deep once this topic came up. Then the predominantly bald members started talking about the finer points of hairstyling. A little insecurity guys? 63 posts, 2 on topic. In the end we debated the Best James Bond.

USB hubs
Mad Mike Magee pops up asking this lot for advice. Think he would know better by now. This thread had absolutely no continuity. Everything is discussed, dinner, poor taste jokes, movies, television, knives, dogs. Briefly we revisited another favorite, but not often discussed topic: Mimeacide. At post 31 Mad mike interrupts “Now, about this problem I'm having with the USB hub” Mike, Mike, you should know better. Special thanks to Thermionic , SKAFFMAN, and NewOriginal for offering some hopefully useful advice.

Cookies
Well of course the sensible one of this lot, yours truly (SIDVISCOUS) starts a semi IT thread that manages to stay on topic, pretty much the whole time. Of course in discussing how well Window$ deals with cookies and cache, no reasonable answer could be found. Somehow the frustrations remind The Flashman of his marriage.

Good 'ol Dr. Tom
Well this started out as a nice strong IT thread that should have done well on the Inq forum. Going after another tech site and all, hints of favoritism, and possible shoddy journalism. What did we talk about? Bloody cockroaches, nuclear weapons and the like. Dr. Tom? Pshaw we got more important stuff to talk about.

Busy week, nothing accomplished, the usual. Don't forget to see the introduction of the OOFG's youngest member Here. ¢¢

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
