The porcessor is the brian of a computer - European offishial
The electronics conglomerate spurned PC making as if it were a rabid dog in the 1990s after suffering huge losses. However, last month we got more than an INQling that Philips was thinking of going back to making laptops and we even wrote it up, here. Now it seems they are planning to do desktops too, so we are able to say we told you so.
It is not a major return to tin box making however. Dixons is taking delivery of six new "Philips" PC models, however a spokesPhilip said that there would be only a small number of stores that will sell the new kit which will be only peddled in six EU countries.
The Dixons PCs will be branded Philips-Freeline, have been preconfigured to work with "Streamium" products, so consumers can stream music from their PCs to their hi-fi sets or television over a wireless connection.
Other than that, the PCs are bog standard, nothing to see here move on please, type machines. It is difficult to see why Philips is so interested in returning to a marketplace which is more cut throat than a bag of razors.
Perhaps it has got confused again. ยต
