The fab, which was part of a joint venture with AMD, caused controversy earlier this year after we revealed that Fujitsu wanted the US firm to stump up money for its share in the production facilities.
The fab made flash devices as part of the joint venture between AMD and Fujitsu (FASL), and the former company had guaranteed the repayment of up to $125 million of the latter's line of credit to buy new equipment.
But staff at the fab tell the INQUIRER that everyone is looking for a new job as Fujitsu attempts to find a buyer for the facility.
There are indications that the flash memory business - a cash cow for both AMD and Intel - has begun to turn round.
But reports that AMD would bail out the fab failed, despite optimistic reports on local newspaper The Oregonian. µ
