Sweden bans DOS attacks

Criminal offence
Tue Feb 20 2007, 08:16
LAWMAKERS IN THE Kingdom of Sweden have made denial of service (DOS) attacks against websites a criminal offence.

According to The Local, here, hackers will have to get all their DOS attacks out of their system by June 1st of the year when the bill starts to peck as a law.

Currently, Sweden is the "Dodge City" of hacking with no specific law banning the attacks, and other legislation is deemed insufficient to ensure convictions in many cases.

But the final straw broke the camel's back when hackers took down the Swedish national police website last summer. Police tried to use an unlawful dispossession charge to get an arrest, but couldn't manage it.

This law will see hackers go to jail for two years and make it illegal to carry out a denial of service attack, regardless of whether it is done automatically or manually. We are not quite sure which hackers have enough friends to carry out a manual DOS attack. µ
