The pain of being a Hotmail user

QUINTIN HERE WANTS to get a few things off his chest. We let him. The opinions he expresses are his, though we've edited his contribution lightly.

Subject: Hotmail 's actions have to be stopped

Microsoft delivers blow after blow to Hotmail users, and users can't do a thing about it.

I've decided to compile a list of things to show people thinking of getting a Hotmail account to think again, and show people how much Microsoft thinks it can screw with its customers before they react.

For example, you might want to know that the reason you're not getting the email that you want (e.g. morpheus@hotmail.com) is because spammers have taken them. In fact around 81,000,000 out of the 110 million hotmail accounts are held by spammmers. That's 80 per cent, and it's pathetic.

Hotmail has ignored it, and not only that, it's placed a 2MB account size limit on free accounts (because spammers are cramming up the system with spam). But I think that Hotmail actually likes spammers since they fill up peoples' accounts, encouraging them to upgrade to Hotmail's paid service. And Hotmail has made absolutely no effort to rid itself of the spammers (who are easy to find, because of the size and amount of emails they send, and also all the stuff they have in their inboxes.)

McAfee has seen the problems and have made a brand new program called SpamKiller the only catch is it's $40 US and who can afford that? Just to get their email... (Users could just switch email companies to mail.com, for example, (which is also free and has 10MB account size).

Now, to add insult to injury Microsoft has decided to (about a month ago) delete all stuff in your sent folder that's more than a month old. I lost about 50 very valuable emails. And to add even more insult to injury you have to (every time) tick the box saying save email to sent folder, which isn't even downloaded by Microsoft's outlook express.

Microsoft's Outlook & Outlook express won't collect 2 Hotmail accounts' emails, e.g. if I have an email account 2893@hot... and 334@hot... it will only collect one and say their an error with the other. But other email clients like Incredimail (www.incredimail.com) will pick up both with no errors, however Outlook & Outlook Express will collect from multiple accounts on other non Microsoft servers!

Thanks for reading.

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
