Asus' touchscreen Eeetops tip up

Touch my bod-Eee
Monday, 3 November 2008, 17:12

ASUS HAS released specs for its 15.6-inch touch-screen Eee TopPC.

Listings on the Asus web site say both models – the ET1602 and ET1603 - come complete with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of DDR2 memory, 160GB SATAII 5400 RPM hard drive, a 1.3 megapixel web cam, 802.11n wireless and two USB 2.0 ports.

What most people will be really happEee about, however, is that both come with Windows XP, rather than clunky, awkward Vista, installed.

Getting into the graphic anatomy of both machines, the specs for the ET1602 claim integrated Intel graphics, while the ET1603 has the more gamer friendly discrete ATI Mobility Radeon HD3450.

Clunky, Awkward Journalism

Just a heads up Sylvie, Vista is better for touch than XP which will feel clunky and awkward in comparison.

Utter RubEeesh

The Eeepc became pupular because it was a relatively cheapo laptop with solid state drive. Now the brand name is established they're just giving you normal laptops with normal laptop prices. In fact from the first model to the current ones they're underpowered for the price so they've always been a rip off. They're utter rubEeesh!

Poor man's Cintiq?

Could it work as a cheap Cintiq-like drawing pad?

no Vista...shame

Form what I understand, Vista is supposed to have a better tablet support as it was built from the start rather than tacked on with SP1.
