Viacom had borrowed the film for one of its TV shows and when the owner Christopher Knight tried to show it on YouTube the broadcaster claimed it owned it.
We have heard from Knight who said that he has got a note back from YouTube saying it had investigated the case and had restored the film to its previous position.
It seems after thinking about it YouTube decided the clip did not infringe Viacom's rights. The fact that Knight had chums in the Electronic Frontier Foundation who came up to bat for him must have helped.
Knight said that he could begin to describe how impressed he was with the Electronic Frontier Foundation. "There's no telling how much grief and headache that the EFF have prevented not just for me, but for a lot of other people also", Knight said.
