WEB BROADCASTING portal Selfcast has today launched a new online program, RockPad, which claims to be the first ever 24/7 broadcast for user generated content.

Brighton-based post-punk band Drookit Dogs will be faffing about on camera for three months The band will be trailed around recording sessions, song production, photo shoots and all of that other band posturing. There will be cameras set up in the living room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and the studio, so fans or voyeurs can follow the band as they lead up to the release of their debut album.

Frontman Matt Oldfield is looking forward to the project, saying that he and his band "can't wait" to get stuck into recording and that being together 24/7 will be "interesting." Interesting for him, maybe, but for the viewer? That remains to be seen.

Having been a Brighton resident and having seen the band a few times, this hack will be checking in occasionally to see what's going on.

SelfCast chief officer Mikkel Dissing marks himself as decidedly fanboy, saying of choosing the launch band for RockPad, "The Drookit Dogs are an amazing band so when their manager approached us, the choice was easy!" µ
