Gainward has the fastest 7800GTX card on the planet

GOGNET tests the Fatal1ty AN8 SLI motherboard. Abit is setting its sight on the seat currently occupied by the DFI Lan party series. The accessories provided by Abit sets it apart from the usual board. The micro Guru Panel and the Abit Audiomax 7.1 audio module are first class product on their own. Gognet found it almost perfect with one or two glitches.

A Guide to cooling your Graphics card using Peltier/TEC cooling is proposed by DoomedPC. They actually use a Danger Den Maza4 GPU and TEC on X800XT and 6800Ultra parts. Loads of photos and detailed information and as usual the disclaimers accompanying that. Results of the tweaks to follow in another article though.

PCStats reviews a motherboard from one of the more aggresive makers out there, the Foxconn Winfast NF4K8AC-8EKRS. It might come as a bland non coloured piece of PCB, but that motherboard does have some very good specs for an affordable price. Based on plain vanilla nForce4, it has an integrated 7.1 audio Codec, GbE LAn and Firewire included. As PCStats puts it, Foxconn means business. Tier 1 and 2 mobo manufacturers beware.

The Sapphire Hybrid X700 Pro 256MB PCie card is under review at Overclockresonline. Despite its relatively mundane appearance and its low cost, it does hold its own against more powerful/expensive competitors like the 6600GT. It is not an overclocking monster though - a relatively quiet cooler and a lack of larger heatsink on the memory modules might explain that.

Newcomer to that column, NGOHQ, published a review of the Gainward Geforce 7800GTX. Yeah, it is an expensive card - but then some 6800 Ultra cost much more than that. This Gainward card is a Golden Sample which means that it is overclocked - 480/1300 for this one - and is still under warranty. With its single design slot and its large but efficient cooler, you can bet that it will be selling like hot cakes.

Another new comer to this column is Gruntville. They test the OCZ EB DDR2 PC2-5400 Titanium 1GB Kit. These are OCZ high end machine and accordingly do carry a premium price tag. Gruntville has tested the memory for two months and has been impressed by their performance as well as the one-day "swap" warranty. µ
