Gears of War 2 released in November

Xbox 360 exclusive

GEARS of War 2 will be released in November as an Xbox 360-exclusive sequel.

Gears of War sold 4.5 million copies worldwide and the sequel is being pushed as being bigger and better. It apparently was responsible for getting the Xbox 360 established in the world market.

Certainly there has been a fair bit of working going on under the bonnet to make the game better.

Epic Games' Michael Capps said it uses the latest version of the Unreal Engine.

It will be possible to do lots more things on-screen and there is a demo which shows more than a 100 Locust enemies running around a typical Gears of War environment.

There also appears to be more dynamic fluid effects, realistic water splashes, rolling waves than you can poke a stick at.

The Gears of War site has a trailer for the game which is hopeless at telling what it can do. ยต

Who Cares

If you can get around a ring of death by all means get it but the real news should be that Bioware has pulled it's head out of it's arse and will release Mass Effect on the PC. Probably after kissing MS's aris with their contract and teams of lawyers.
