Wednesday, 30 July 2008, 12:11

FOLLOWING THE FORMATION of SpectraWatt, Intel have now teamed up with New Jersey company, Voltaix.

The company, which makes chemicals for producing semi-conductors and solar cells, has been given $12.5m by Intel to expand its role in the growing market for building-integrated photovoltaics.

President of Intel Capital, Arvind Sodhani, said "Our financing of Voltaix is part of Intel Capital's manufacturing strategy to foster innovation around integrated circuit manufacturing and complementary cleantech areas such as thin film photovoltaics,"

The first products from Intel’s previous solar project, SpectraWatt, are expected mid-2009.
