Via announces HDTV encoder

CHIP FIRM VIA said it has released an HDTV encoder with support for an array of inputs and outputs.

The VT1625 encoder will allow PCs to support HDTV displays and take input from graphics chips or MPEG decoders using a variety of standards including 1080i HDTV.

The encoder will support inputs from 640x480 to 1024x768, including HDTV input formats 1280x720 or 1920x1080 in different RGB pixel formats, as well as YCrCb pixel data formats.

It will also perform non-interlace to interlace conversations.

It includes six 10-bit DACs and video standards including NTSC-M, NTSC-J, PAL-B, D, G, H, I, PAL-M, PAL-N and PAL-NC.

It can also output composite video, S-Video, and a variety of other signals as well as supporting SCART interfaces and D-Terminals, Via said. µ
