Sony makes PS3 targets

One million flogged
Mon Jan 08 2007, 07:06
SONY SAID it managed to make its sales targets for the PS3 in North America over the Christmas sales period.

The console maker had set itself the dizzying target of one million consoles to be sold during the busiest shopping period.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Sony felt that it should pat itself on the back by announcing that it had managed to achieve this. To be fair to Sony, it had a few problems getting the much delayed PS3 into the shops on time.

Initial attempts meant that there were too few machines for the punters to queue up for. To make its American targets, Sony decided that Europeans could not get their grubby little paws on them until the middle of 2007.

The net result is that while the figures look good for North America, Sony has only managed to sell half of the number of consoles that it wanted worldwide.

Over at the Volehill, Microsoft said that it sold 10.4 million Xbox 360s during the same period.
