Hitachi first to serve up Blu-ray camcorders

HITACHI HAS unveiled two Blu-ray disk based camcorders this week, as promised.

The models, DZ-BD70A and DZ-BD7HA, can store around an hour's worth of 1920x1080 high definition video on a blu-ray disk, the firm says.

The DZ-BD7HA also sports a hard-disk capable of saving about four hours of 1920x1080 video, or up to eight hours of 1440x1080 content, Video can also be recorded in standard definition to DVD discs, the firm said.

The DZ-BD70A will cost around about $1,300 (£650). The hard-drive adds an extra $200, (£100) to the price. µ
