Intel job cuts have begun

Stealth axeman stalks the corridors
Wed Jun 21 2006, 17:40
WE BROKE THE news about huge Intel layoffs more than a month ago. And since then, you can almost hear the crickets chirp. Officially, nothing but, behind the scenes, we hear things are moving right along.

The first set of casualties, after XScale of course, is the Software Solutions Group (SSG). We are told this group covers ISVs worldwide, and those ISVs have been 'upgraded' to being covered by Marketstar, an external company, or take the self-help web route.

The former SSGers have two months to find another job internally or take a severance package. Neither is a really harsh thing, so Intel may be doing this quietly, but they are doing it nicely. Anyone know of any other cuts? There will be more. µ
