TWO ANCIENT blokes sat on a virtual park bench at a Wall Street Journal conference yesterday and remembered the war.

Bill Gates (95) and Steve Jobs (98) exchanged anecdotes about technology and how they admired each other yeah right.

According to the Journal, Gates, waving his walking stick [we made that bit up, Ed.], said: "We'll look back at this as one of the great periods of invention."

Gates envies Jobs' taste while Jobs envies Gates' philanthropy. Gates likes the cut of Jobs' jib, while Jobs thought Gates was doing a great job.

According to the Journal, Jobs quoted a line from Apple band the Beatles. "You and I have memories, longer than the road that stretches out ahead."

Gates admires Jobs' abilities to levitate, like his namesake Saint Joseph of Cupertino, while Jobs admires Gates' abilities to gravitate. The two old blokes shuffled off the stage together to get back to pottering around in their respective garden sheds. µ
