Make a computer game in four days

GDC 007 XNA Game Studio Express Challenge
Tue Mar 06 2007, 09:21
MICROSOFT STATES THAT XNA is so practical for gamedevs that you can create a game in four days. And to add strength behind words, company is hosting a four-day challenge. There are four developer teams in the mix, ranging from students to indie game developers, who are racing against the clock in order to produce a game with high level of gameplay and not too shabby graphics in less than 100 hours.

We have seen teams scrambling code and designing & texturing models and at least one game looks very interesting. It would be interesting to see what would happen in more developers would start doing these challenges, could anything creative come out of all the stress that was visible on faces of various team members. Kickoffs start every day at 10:00 in the morning and end at 18:00 (6PM), when the conference officially closes doors for the day, so in fact teams do not have 24h per day, rather a little less - eight hours.

Good luck to all teams involved and as Jeff Minter would say: "We need more electronic art, not Electronic Arts". µ
