Supermicro readies more AMD Opteron products

Lots of products on the way
Saturday, 15 October 2005, 16:20
SOURCES SAID Supermicro, formerly an Intel only board company, is readying more products for AMD Opteron processors.

Those include 4U-2P towers using Opteron 270s, and 2U-2P units using Opteron 275s.

And the firm also has 1U-2P servers using S-ATA and Opteron 270s.

As well as this, it appears that there's a four way 1U motherboard/barebone product which is likely to start becoming available in November, and the H8SSL-i board, a 939 pin Opteron which uses 100 series chips.

It appears that after a long time avoiding AMD products, the floodgates for Supermicro are opening. µ
