Daily Buying Guide Stunning buys from Dell

LOVE IT or hate it, Dell's here to stay. They have very good deals either from their own website or from alternative third parties.

We're trying to convince resellers in this column to offer freebies or additional discounts to our readers. If you do buy from any of the guys listed here, just tell them that you come from theinquirer's daily buy column. And, resellers or readers alike, if you have some hot and spicy deals. Send me a line.

The first of our exceptional buys come from Dell itself. They are having a special promotion for a Dual Xeon 3.0GHz server(SC1420) with 1MB cache each for only £640 excluding VAT and delivery. You get a bronze one Year NBD Premier Enterprise support, 256MB DDR2 SDRAM, a CDROM drive, a 80GB SATA HDD, a LSI 39320 U320 SCSI controller but nothing else - no keyboard, OS, mouse, monitor or floppy. A very good deal though.

CRS-UK.biz has one of the most fantastic deals I've ever seen in UK. They are selling a refurbished Dell Inspiron 9200 with a 1.6GHz Pentium M for only £492+VAT. The specs of this laptop are truly superb. A 17-inch Widescreen monitor powered by a Radeon 9700 chipset with 128MB memory, 512MB system RAM, Windows XP home with media, a DVD+/-RW Drive, Firewire, WiFi compatible, a 60GB hard disk. A real stunner for so cheap. A similarly configured Inspiron 9300 laptop with a lesser powerful X300 will cost you almost twice that price at Dell.

If you've lingered for a 19-inch for quite some time, then this Dell FP 1900 refurbished model from Aria might be the one at only £154.95+VAT. It comes with a 30 days warranty. It is apparently a rebadged Samsung 191T LCD monitor. It comes with both DVI and Analog inputs and was selling for twice that price two years back. 1280x1024 at 60fps. Hmmm not bad at all.

Ebay is a good place to find cheap Dell stuff. How about £290 for a 3GHz Dell Dimension 3000 with 512MB DDR memory, 80GB 7200rpm HDD, a 48x DVD combo, six USB ports, Integrated grpahics and Sound, Keyboard, Mouse, Driver and XP disks etc. The system is still boxed and unopened. Find it here. A Dell Optiplex GX270 with a similar configuration and one year RTB warranty and without any peripherals costs £230+VAT.

Last but certainly now least is that superb Dell Axim X5 with an Xscale 400MHz PDA on sale for only £80+VAT. It has a 16-bit QVGA monitor, Windows Mobile 2003 plus a full set of accessories. On sale at RDC shop, yet another dell refurbished reseller. µ

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
