Intel profits up by 44 per cent

Revenues rise by eight per cent

CHIP FIRM Intel turned in revenues of $8.7 billion for its second financial quarter, delivering a net profit of $1.3 billion.

Revenues were up eight per cent compared to the same quarter last year, but net income jumped by 44 per cent.

But average selling prices for the quarter were lower, even though Intel sold more microprocessors, sales of mobos were lower, but chipset sales set a record, according to the firm.

Intel's gross margin was 46.9 per cent, less than it anticipated, while sales of NOR flash declined. µ
