The blue pixel is a 60cm x 60cm rendition, painted in acrylic, on a 100cm x 140 cm canvas.
The description of the painting beats anything we've seen in Private Eye's Pseuds Corner column.
Here we go: "The magnification creates a
sense of importance and offers an element of surprise with a dash of humour... the color blue was chosen to express
infinite possibility... the paint has traditionally been a frequently used medium to represent historical figures and
momentous happenings".
As with all great works of art, this one is bound to have its imitators. Our own Cubist version, above, just cannot compare to the original, by Claude Bossett, here, specially painted for the 50th anniversary of the pixel. ยต
