US: Hitler 'may be dead'

Despite being seen joking with his top aides on British and American TV almost nightly, CIA analysts say that the programmes could have been pre-recorded.

"After an exhaustive frame-by-frame analysis of broadcasts such as The World at War, we still cannot be certain that Hitler wasn't killed as coalition forces moved into Berlin in 1945," said a spokesman. "The regular TV appearances could just be a sophisticated hoax."

Reaction from other world leaders was mixed. Saddam Hussain was 'unavailable for comment' and US President George W Bush was quoted as saying "Adolf Who?"
