Hitachi recalls batteries

Tell me the old, old story
Fri Oct 06 2006, 10:26
HITACHI HAS has joined the long, long list of notebook makers recalling batteries. The firm said today it will bring back 16,000 cells made by, guess who, Sony. Most of the affected units shipped to Japan.

According to Reuters, "Hitachi is in talks with Sony about who will foot the bill to replace the lithium-ion batteries". We can guess the answer though.

All eyes now will be on HP to see whether it joins its industry friends in The Year of the Recall. Because that's all HP needs right now, isn't it? µ
