Intel, Micron, others push NAND flash standard

But need to get more members
Wednesday, 10 May 2006, 07:38
A GROUP of major electronics vendors said they have started a working group to develop a standard interface for NAND flash memory.

Intel, Micron, Sony, and Hynix said they have started the Open NAND Flash Interface Working Group.

The group will define a better chip level interface for the attachment of NAND flash memory to host systems.

The group will work on developing tech to let NAND flash tell host computer systems about its capabilities and also design standard pinouts.

alt='anand'There is only one problem with this group and its ideas - it does not yet have industry wide membership. Micron and Intel already have a memory joint venture.

It needs to get more competitors such as Samsung on its board. ยต
