NAMCO HAS A treat for fans of old arcade games, three top-notch ones for North American cell phones, and another licensed game on top. The new old games are Popeye, Mr. Do, Mr. Do's Castle and Atlantis: Sky Patrol.

Enhanced Mode Popeye

Here you see Popeye, an old arcade game that I plunked more than enough quarters into once upon a time. It comes in two modes, Classic/Arcade mode, basically the old game, and Enhanced, an, umm, enhanced version. Enhanced has better graphics, more levels and the usual tweaks.

One really interesting bit is the more you play, the more tokens you get, You can redeem the tokens for viewing of the original 1940s comic strips. On top of that, if you download the game, Namco and Sprint are giving away a boxed set of the original cartoons to a few buyers. If you are an animation fan, this game has a lot of goodies packed away.

Enhanced Mode Mr Do's Castle

The two Mr Do games, vanilla and Castle are similar to Popeye, they have both classic and enhanced modes. Depending on the game, enhanced ads more levels, powerups, and things to do. The arcade modes are still there, and that is where you will find me.

The last one is Atlantis: Sky Patrol, a casual Zuma-esque game where you shoot marbles onto a track to match colors. Like most action/puzzle games, it looks quite addictive, but breaks little new ground.

Popeye is available now exclusively on Sprint networks, but will go to others in the not so distant future. Mr Do is set for Q4 and Castle is coming after that with Atlantis following them. If you like the classics, I would give these games a shot, they are classics for a reason. µ
