Amazon.com buys JK Rowling opus

Daddy, can I have a £2 million book too?

AMAZON.COM is the mystery buyer of an auctioned book by Harry Potter author JK Rowling.

At £2 million, the book seems a bit on the pricey side even compared to a Wii but the auction was for charity and the price must be a drop in the proverbial compared to how much Amazon rakes in from Rowling’s HP franchise.

The auction of The Tales of Beedle the Bard took place at Sotheby’s in London yesterday but it only emerged later that Amazon was the buyer.

The price is good news for six friends of Rowling who own the remaining copies of the handmade run as the book was expected to go for a relatively modest £50,000.

Fans can see excerpts and view pics of the book here. µ
