Chinese gamer fumes at quake shutdown
A WOMAN WAS SO MIFFED that her favourite online game (we hope it wasn't Quake) was shut down for three days because of the Chinese disaster that she created a video rant and posted it.
Gao Qianhui, 21, posted the video which showed her sitting inside what appears to be an Internet cafe. After introducing herself as a "common young girl" from Liaoning province in northeastern China, Gao moaned that she had no interest in coverage of the earthquake.
She said only a few people died and, face it, China didn't have shortage of people. What was more important was that her favourite game was down for three days out of respect for the dead.
Unfortunately for Qianhui, her post was in China and so coppers swooped and she was immediately carted off to jail.
The Xinhua News Agency said the case was highlighted by Blogging for China, although no one was sure which law Qianhua had broken.
However anyone waving the free speech card might find themselves without much in the way of support.
The Xinhua story carried on Netease alone had more than 17,000 comments mostly calling for her to be lynched. µ

she must had chose to be mentally challenged, and i still would not forgive of what she had said.
Now normally we you would expect the west to be in favour of her right as an individual to not care (and suffer from an addiction), but not if you were born in the last 15 years and taught to be compliant, or are absorbed by modern thinking , in that case our 'proud freedom loving west' would also want to hang her for non-approved non-group non-pc thinking.
As a member of the "proud freedom loving west," I can fervently say that she should not be jailed for being an insensitive moron.

She's an idiot, but that isn't a crime in the US. Just look at the current Executive Branch.

There is also the chance that this is a conspiracy by the Chinese gov't to bolster support for their goal to silence anyone who says things they don't like on the Interwebs. "See how terrible free speech is? She put this video out trivializing the deaths of tens of thousands of people and thinks a computer game is more important than a human life. The glorious People's Republic of China will not stand for such filth!"

When you say “Unfortunately for Qianhui, her post was in China…”, do you really know what the story is? If you really understand what she said, you will not feel so sorry for her. She said all those died people are deserved to be killed, all of those died children are deserved to be killed. Why did she say that? JUST because she can not play an online GAME!!! It is so lucky for her to be arrested by police. It does save her life from angry people who lose their family and everything in the disaster. If you say it is a “free speech”, can we say killing people is also part of “freedom”? SPEECH can also kill people!!
By her logic, since China's got so many people, one more won't matter! XD
Leil, pleeeeeeeeease go back to school unless your still in, and learn how to speak english perfectly not just well, perfectly.Because this is very annoying to see illiterate people everytime I read a comment on every website I go to.

This is just a basic case of game addiction, makes you say, do and type things you would otherwise think trough first.
