Mac starts working in a Parallels universe

Gaming comes to Mac

THOSE OF you who love OSX but bemoan the lack of games can start to rejoice, as Parallels said a new upgrade will bring Direct3D support into the Windows virtualisation software.

Parallels has recently become the top choice for Mac users wanting to run Windows on their Intel-based machines, as the software taps directly into the VT component on the lastest Core 2 Duo chips and delivers awesome Vista and XP performance in a window. Until now, support for 3D graphics was lacking, which meant no Aero Glass and no gaming.

Version 3 of the software should hit virtual shelves in a couple of weeks, and will also add support for Windows file association within OSX, performance enhancements and better USB support.

The upgrade will cost existing users $40, and can be pre-ordered here. Could Mac owners finally get to experience some decent games? We can but hope. µ
