AMD's Ruiz has no plans to step down soon
AN INTERVIEW with AMD CEO Hector Ruiz has revealed that he has no plans to pass over the reigns of power to Dirk Meyer any time real soon.
Ruiz, interviewed by CNBC Europe, was pressed by the interviewer about whether he would step down in favour of Meyer next year. Ruiz' contract with AMD runs out in April next year.
He said that earning $9.2 million was "an awful lot more money" than he needed. His motivation isn't the money however, it is the 16,000 people that work for AMD.
Ruiz
said the "succession" plan was conceived of five years ago to groom Meyer to
take his place. "When the time comes for me to hand the reigns over to him, it's
going to be fantastic," he told CNBC.
But that won't be anytime soon, and it won't be next year, he said. The succession plan isn't anything to do with AMD's 2007 difficulties.
The interview will be broadcast this Thursday (13th) on CNBC Europe at 22:30 GMT. µ

Are we sure he doesn't secretly work for Intel?

At this rate there may not *be* an AMD in a few years time...
His motivation isn't the money, it is the POWER! Besides look at the fantastic job he has done so far.

I think it meant to say something like "his motivation isn't the money however, it is taking it away from the shareholders."
There, looks more realistic now.
