The 1920 res is usually reserved for 24-inch or 27-inch displays, since squeezing all those pixels into a mere 22-inch makes for a tight pixel density.
The traditional thinking of monitor companies is that consumers don't like tight pixel densities, fearing for their eyesight - despite the legions of hardcore gamers and graphics professionals that, over the years, have begged them to rethink their strategy.
Not to mention the fact that laptop displays typically have more pixels per inch than desktop displays, and nobody seems to mind using laptops.
Well, it appears that at least Lenovo is going to be stepping up to the crease - and we all know that, in China, where there's one company making 22-inch 1920 panels, there's probably ten. So look for a glut of these to hit the market before long.
The monitor itself, called the ThinkVision L220x, has DVI with HDCP copy protection, 300 cd/m2 of brightness and a contrast ratio of 1000:1 - all fairly standard specifications. Look for it to hit shelves imminently, at an undisclosed price. µ
