HP screwed up - it's official

Firm let off the ethics hook
Wed May 23 2007, 23:52
HEWLETT PACKARD had its knuckles thoroughly rapped by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) which warned it should never play footsie with corporate facts ever again.

The SEC issued a statement saying the USA and its citizens demanded to know the truth about corporate players, such as director Tom Perkins, who resigned as part of a blazing row he had over investigations about ethics in a boardroom row.

HP, said the SEC, failed to disclose the facts about this resignation. HP violated the public reporting requirements of the SEC 1934 act.

HP promised never to do it again. It didn't get fined. µ
