THE VATICAN bureaucracy has announced that its secure messaging operating is going to be run on Sun Microsystems kit.

According to a SpokesNun from the Holy See, Sister Judith Zoebelein, email operations are vital for the ‘modern church' and enable all internal communication, amd correspondence between Vatican consulates.

Stage one of the project has just been created and uses Sun's Java Enterprise System, including the Messaging Server and Directory Server. Next, the Vatican wants to create a new global Papal portal, and centralise its numerous external and intranet sites. This will also run on Java and will include content management, media streaming, e-learning, and collaboration systems.
