Beatles beamed to outer space
NASA boffins are to beam the music of the Beatles into deep space.
If any aliens happen to be cruising around, on February 4 and have their radios on they will be able to hear Across the Universe coming into their headsets. This assumes that they have ears and will not think that the music is a declaration of war in their own language.
The transmission over NASA's Deep Space Network will commemorate the 40th anniversary of the day The Beatles recorded the song.
The song is being blasted at the North Star, Polaris, 431 light years away.
According to, Network World Sir Paul McCartney was pretty impressed, even if the tune was mostly written by John Lennon.
In a message to the space agency, McCartney wrote "Send my love to the aliens. All the best, Paul."
He might also have asked if there was a place up there which had laws that allowed for elderly stars to vapourise paparazzi and ex-wives who had become annoying.

I'm going to 'obtain' a copy of it and if the RIAA askes where I got it I can at least claim it was beamed at me from the stars.
