MSI releases infrared Starcam

Confuses hacks
Thu Aug 11 2005, 15:16
MSI HAS LAUNCHED its Starcam 370i, a webcam with a built in infrared illuminator supposedly perfect for 24/7 surveillance - a treat for paranoid techies.

The press release asks the poignant question, "what is a webcam?" Just as I was about to type up an informative response to MSI's PR team about what a webcam is, the release went ahead and answered the question in the next sentence! "A usual webcam lets you talk to your friends and relatives from miles away over the internet!" it screamed at me through its Trebuchet MS font. "In addition to talking you get to see them face to face! MSI's new Starcam goes one step further... Read on!" alt='infracam'

The kit features a USB microphone and two USB-powered LED lights "for business travelers to work on an airplane or in a dark conference room." Or so they can stay in their apartments with all the curtains shut, never having to see natural sunlight ever again.

MSI's Starcam 370i is capable of shooting static pictures with up to 1.3 mega pixels. Another listed feature from the release is, and I quote, "StarCam370i could be used to dark room with infrared light." Oh. If you're after a Starcam, check out the company's website here. ยต
