SCO subpoenas Pamela Jones

To prove you exist
Wed Feb 14 2007, 07:37
ANTI LINUX bad boy SCO has subpoenaed the online bogger known as Pamela Jones.

For three and a half years, Jones has published thousands of articles on her Groklaw site bashing the company for suing IBM over the operating system that be called Linux.

SCO claims that it wants to take a deposition from Jones, although many people think that this is just a rouse to force Jones to appear before the court.

SCO appears to believe that Jones is actually an IBM representative. Its lawyers want to prove that Big Blue has "used" Groklaw to gain support from techies for its case.

So far the subpoena has not been served. SCO can't find Jones to give it to her. The last time anyone heard from Jones was when she posted an item on her "Groklaw" blog telling readers that she would be taking a "health break" for an unspecified amount of time. She did not mention SCO's attempts to serve her with a subpoena.

If she does get a subpoena she will be stuck with the problem of proving the nature of her existence to a court. This is something that has eluded philosophers for centuries, never mind a humble hack like me. µ

Do you think the move was justified?
